Our Apartment

Guess what?
We did NOT move again!!!
We have lived in the same place for a little over 10 months!

Here is the virtual tour....

Welcome to our newest Lilly Pad.

A white butterfly bush appeared in the mound of basement dirt while we were building.
My dad planted it here.
You are looking at our landscaping.
 Jealous?

A view from the backyard.
The part below the deck is a work in progress...

 Walking up the stairs.....

This is your view from the stairs.

This was another reason we wanted to move to this side.
We love this fireplace.
And, no, it has not had a fire in it yet.
We are waiting on fall to arrive.

Our porch seating.
I know.... nothing matches.
I love it anyway.

I especially love this!
It was our 19th anniversary gift to each other.

Looking back across the deck.

You are now standing at our front door.
After spending time in NY, we fell in love with their Adirondack chairs.
Michael got this one for Father's Day.

When you come in the front door,
you will look to your left and see the kitchen.

Looking to your right, the living room.

Back to the kitchen.
A couple of the differences from the other side:
Matching cabinets (lighter colored)
Tile flooring
A built-in island...
...awaiting stools
(hint hint Monkey)

Among many, one of my favorite things about our apartment are
the wide window seals.
One of my favorite scripture verses, Philippians 4:6-8

Looking back across the kitchen.
You are standing in the corner near the garage door and pantry.

Incase you are wondering...
These are the stools that I have been eyeing for a while.
My birthday is soon.
(hint hint Monkey)

The garage.
Contain your excitement.
Save it for the pantry.

TA-DA... Here is my pantry.
Brace yourself, there are three pictures to view this gem.

Now, you are standing in the hallway looking back at the living room.
How do you like my afghan?
I want to paint my kitchen orange to match it.
Michael said, "No."

My first 'real' painting.
I fell in love with these chickadees.
It is a painting from a local artist.
Aren't they lovely?

Now, you are standing in the corner of the living room
where my desk and corner windows are.

Back to the hallway.
In the tiny hallway, you will find three doors.
One is to the guest bath.
I keep calling it the 'half' bath.
The one on the other side was purple, remember?
It was a half bath.
But, this one is a full bathroom.

The second door leads to the basement.
Remember one of the main reasons we chose to move here?

It was a good choice.
Our power went out during the ice storm.
I cooked beef stew on the top of our woodstove.

The third door is our bedroom door.

I am obsessed with pottery.
This one is one of my favorite pieces.
The crystalline process amazes me.

I am also obsessed with these lamps.
They are so girly.
Michael doesn't mind.

Here is our bathroom/laundry room/closet area.

Back to the living room.
Now, we are headed upstairs.

The girls wanted carpet.
I didn't.
But, I am happy with it.
It is cozy.
Hannah and Cari make everyone take off their shoes.
It's not because they are concerned about the dirt.
They want everyone to sink their toes into the fluff.

This is the girls' sitting room upstairs.
That door leads to an unfinished storage area above the garage.

Hannah's room.
I LOVE her paint color!!

Cari's room.
I LOVE her paint color too!!

I decided to use BEFORE pictures of their closets.
BEFORE they crammed their stuff in there.
Because, well, their closets are their closets and they can
cram whatever they want in there.
It is just not pretty to look at.

Here is their bathroom.

Okay, folks, your tour is over.
Grab some grapes on your way out.
If there are any left....
Stay tuned, the next blog post will be about
"How to Make Grape Jelly".

Yes, we moved... AGAIN...

For all of you who are wondering...

We moved again.

I know.

People think we are crazy.

Let me explain.

We built a duplex apartment.  We moved into one side, my parents moved in the other side.  Everything was finally getting unpacked and put into place.  My parents had their home on the market for sale.  It did not sell.  They moved back home.  We moved into their side of the apartment.
The End.

Notice I did not say we packed and moved.  This was, by far, the easiest move yet.  We took the dishes out of one cabinet and walked the arm full of dishes across to the other side and put them in the same cabinet on the other side.  SIMPLE.

There are a few things that are different.  Some things I LOVE about this side.  Some things I miss about the other side.

I will wait until I get things settled a little more before I post pictures.  But, for now, this is one of the main reasons why we moved.....

Yes, that is a basement, with a wood stove in it - in our home.
** big smiles **

Real...

A look into my kitchen on a real day.  I almost always turn around and every cabinet door is open and my dishwasher too... plus a counter full of dirty dishes!!!  Why do I always have all these dirty dishes?  Maybe because I like to cook and we like to eat!  Job security for me!

FINALLY.....

We have finally moved in and the dust has settled.... and been dusted, swept, vacuumed, mopped, mopped again, and mopped again.

These pictures are sort of what it looks like now.  I finally just took pictures.  I thought, why am I waiting for everything to be cleaned up before I take pictures to post.  There are always things out of place or messed up.  That is just life right?  And, we are constantly moving stuff around to get it kind of the way we want it.  That is the fun part!

Here is the kitchen.
This table is very special to me.
I remember my dad building it when I was a little girl.
I often joked and said that it was my table.
(I even wrote my name on the underneath side of it.  Maybe I wasn't really joking.)
I am glad it has finally made its way to my kitchen after all these years.

Cari is busy hittin' the books.

Here is the pantry.  The shelf on the right has been moved into the living room.
My dad built it when he was in high school shop class.  I love it too!

Here is the living room.  Please ignore Cari's bedside table.  She likes the accessibility of having everything on TOP of her table instead of in the drawers.  (*insert smile*)

Yep, still no pictures.  I just can't decide.....
I am not ready to be patching holes in the walls and touching up paint!

Michael is trying to fold the girls up in their bed.  They are hanging out in the living room until we get their rooms finished upstairs.

 The guest bathroom.

Our bedroom.
I know you are in awe of my mad decorating skillz.
Please hold the calls.
We have since unpacked these boxes and have two bookshelves in this room.
I added some cute lamps that I absolutely LOVE.
I am currently try to decide if I want to move my bed under the window.
No pictures yet....

Here is our super duper cozy chair and a half.
Ask me how I peel myself out of this chair....
I love it!
This is my dad and Hannah trying it out.

Our bathroom.  I think I could bowl in this room.

Our closet.

Yippee, the first time our yard needed to be mowed!  I am so glad we decided to hire this cute lawn guy.  I enjoy staring at him out of my kitchen window.
